3 Keys to Successful Affiliate Marketing
Patrick J Rakiski
I have been working for myself for a little while as an affiliate marketer. I was fortunate, however, to learn very quickly that I needed only three things to be a success.
These things are:
The ability to get and stay organized.
The ability to identify traffic patterns.
The ability to sell a product and/or service that delivered what it promised.
Organization is necessary for me because I was recently diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. I always had trouble meeting deadlines and I thought being self-employed was the way to go, but things went from bad to worse. Regardless of your condition, organization can only help.
Being organized allows you to:
Determine what needs to be done.
Prioritize what needs to be done.
Track your progress and eliminate duplication of effort.
Understanding traffic is more important than just getting traffic. My first few attempts at advertising on the Yahoo and Google almost caused me to quit affiliate marketing before I started succeeding. I tried selling a product that I wanted to sell as opposed to figuring out what people were interested in actually buying.
By investing the time to research how traffic is flowing, you can become an expert in identifying the much coveted "niche" market.
The final piece of my success puzzle was having something that would actually sell. As I said before, I bought many programs that were nothing more than reworked versions of themselves. Even after I had tons of traffic, I could not sell these programs to people who had already purchased them or were tired of hearing about them. On top of that, I have a reputation to consider.
The good products and services are out there, but you have to look for them. If your customers could find them on their own, you would not have a business!
Patrick Rakiski is an affiliate marketer currently involved in several programs. The blog to which this article relates can be found here
